DENVER -- The Colorado Avalanche downplayed their dominance over the defending Stanley Cup champions this season. No sense giving the Chicago Blackhawks any sort of bulletin board material, just in case the two teams meet again in the post-season. Semyon Varlamov stopped 37 shots for his 100th NHL win, helping the Avalanche beat the Blackhawks 3-2 on Wednesday night to take four of five in the season series. "I dont want to talk about sending messages," Varlamov said. "We are focusing on what we are doing and on the playoffs." Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville wasnt reading too much into the Avalanches advantage, either. After all, the Avs only outscored Chicago 17-14. "There are going to be certain teams your record isnt going to be as good as you like," Quenneville said. "It looks like its a landslide against you, but every game has been different. Every game has been close." Thats because these two squads are almost mirror images. Theyre fast, young and have quality goaltending. Chicago has been that way for years. The Avalanche are just coming of age under first-year coach Patrick Roy. He doesnt mind the comparisons to Chicago, but thinks it might be a little premature because of "what theyve been able to accomplish. But we certainly look up to them." Brad Malone scored his first goal of the season, Matt Duchene extended his points to a career-high nine games with a goal and an assist, and Ryan OReilly scored what turned out to be the game-winner on a two-man advantage as the Avalanche jumped over the Blackhawks in the Central Division standings and into second place. "We are happy to be in second place, but thats not our goal," Duchene said. "We want to keep pushing and climb as high as we can." Patrick Kane and Brandon Saad scored for Chicago. Antti Raanta made 26 saves filling in for Corey Crawford. It was the first time Raanta has been in net since Jan. 28. Varlamov became the fourth Russian-born goaltender to record 100 wins, joining Evgeni Nabokov (347), Nikolai Khabibulin (333) and Ilya Bryzgalov (213). This also was Varlamovs 33rd win, second-most in the league behind Pittsburghs Marc-Andre Fleury (34). The Avalanche had a 5-on-3 opportunity for 1:30 midway through the third period following an interference call on Andrew Shaw and a delay of game by Marcus Kruger after he sent the puck into the seats. OReilly capitalized when he grabbed a rebound near the net and knocked it in for a 3-1 advantage. Chicago pulled Raanta with 2:32 remaining and scored seconds later when Saad knocked the puck past Varlamov. The Blackhawks momentarily put Raanta back on the ice, but summoned him to the bench with 1:37 left, leading to a wild finish. Saad sent a backhander just over the net with 25 seconds left and lined a shot into the chest of Varlamov with 4.9 seconds remaining. After that save, the crowd began chanting "Varly! Varly!" "Varly has been playing outstanding for us," Roy said. "He gives us a chance to win every night." Duchene staked Colorado to a 2-0 lead 19 seconds into the second period when he sent a wrist shot past Raanta. The Blackhawks sliced into the lead at 8:23 when Kane skated down the right side with defenceman Jan Hejda hanging all over him. Kane found just enough separation to lift backhanded shot over the shoulder of Varlamov for his 29th goal of the season. Colorado was without forwards P.A. Parenteau (right knee) and Paul Stastny (back). The team called up Paul Carey and Malone from the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League to add depth. Carey made his NHL debut and Malone instantly contributed as he scored late in the opening period. Cruising along the left boards, Malone sent a low liner at Raanta that went right through his legs. "It was a good shot. It was a surprising shot," Raanta said. "Thats how hockey treats you. You have to let those goals go and just keep going and try to make more saves." NOTES: Blackhawks C Jonathan Toews said of Colorados recent success against his team: "We just need to stop playing into their hands." ... Varlamov had an assist on Malones goal, his third of the season. ... Varlamov was 4-0 in five games (four starts) against Chicago, with a 1.59 goals-against average. ... Varlamov was given the puck to commemorate his 100th win. "It was important that I save the puck," he said. Tyler Johnson Jersey . The accident showered debris into the grandstand, injuring 13 fans and an IndyCar Series official. Franchitti, who also sustained a concussion, was transported by ambulance to a hospital. The four-time series champion had surgery on his ankle was being held overnight, and IndyCar said a series official was treated for minor injuries. Houston Fire Department spokesman Ruy Lozano said 13 fans were injured, and that 11 were treated on site at Reliant Park. Lozano said two were taken to the hospital for treatment. The accident in Turn 5 was reminiscent of Dan Wheldons fatal 2011 crash at Las Vegas in that competitors had to drive through the wreckage. It was a sobering moment for race winner Will Power, who broke his back in Las Vegas crash, and for Scott Dixon, who took control of the IndyCar championship race Sunday but passed by teammate Franchittis car and waved in an attempt to get an update on his condition. "The smells and the visuals, for me, and even talking to Will, you have the remnants of Vegas popping into your head with you coming around the corner and you cant drive through it because theres a field of debris," Dixon said. "There was no near the amount of damage that we saw (in 2011), but seeing the replay was a big shock." The accident occurred after contact between Franchitti and Takuma Sato sent Franchittis car launching over Satos and into the fence. Parts and pieces from both cars flew into the grandstand and Franchittis badly damaged car bounced back onto the track. E.J. Viso then hit Satos car. The caution came out to immediately freeze the field, preventing Dixon from making a final attempt on passing Power for the win. Dixon won Saturdays first race of the doubleheader weekend and settled for second after Franchittis crash. Power initially seemed shaken when he climbed from his car and admitted the accident reminded him of Las Vegas, where he and Wheldon both sailed into the fence. "I just saw Darios car and him sitting in it with a lot of damage, and yes, thats what it reminded me of," Power said. "I hate seeing that. We try to keep these cars on the ground." The accident ended a weekend that saw Dixon move into the points lead following mechanical failures for Helio Castroneves on consecutive days. Castroneves came to Houston with a 49-point lead over Dixon. But a gearbox problem Saturday when Dixon won allowed Dixon to pull within eight points. Then his gearbox broke on Sunday, and Dixon now has a 25-point lead in the standings and needs only to finish fifth or better in the Oct. 19 finale in California to win his third IndyCar title. "Its still going to come down to the wire," he said. "Its still going to be the last lap, last corner kind of situation. At least I hope that it ends that way." Castroneves fiinished 23rd.dddddddddddd He had started on the pole, got a great jump on the standing start to get past Dixon for the lead, but Dixon was screaming on his radio within minutes that Castroneves car was leaking oil everywhere and it was splashing onto Dixons tires and visor. Castroneves said little to his Penske Racing team, but detected a vibration in his car with every shift of the gears after just a handful of laps. The problem worsened and he came to a complete stop on the course at Reliant Park after just 11 laps. "Its frustrating and disappointing," Castroneves said. "It hurts. It really hurts." His car was towed to the garage with a broken gearbox, Castroneves made the long walk back still wearing his helmet, and team owner Roger Penske retreated without comment into a team transporter. The team eventually replaced the gearbox and Castroneves returned to the track, 36 laps down and needing a miracle in Fontana, where the three-time Indianapolis 500 winner was fastest during an open test last week. "The racing isnt over, we know that. Weve seen this thing go up and down," team owner Penske said. "I think Wills performance today shows the speed the team has in the cars. Weve been here before, and well go to a track we like and maybe it will bring us some luck." But Penske said Castroneves will likely have to change his engine before the finale which will incur a 10-spot penalty on the starting grid at Fontana. "Its a long race and were going to go for it," said Penske, adding "it doesnt make sense, as far as Im concerned" that reliability and durability failed twice in two days in a season in which Castroneves had been the only driver to complete every lap heading into Houston. Dixon said his strategy didnt change when Castroneves pulled over Sunday with his problem. Dixon said he saw Castroneves drive over a bump in Turn 1 under yellow that had caused problems all weekend and it caused some of the underwing to fall off of his car. Dixon said oil began pouring out of Castroneves car. "He hit really hard going through Turn 1 kink, instead of sticking to the left there, for some reason he went right in the middle and thats when some of the underwing fell off when he hit that hard," Dixon said. "With the amount of oil that was coming out of that thing, I knew it was pretty terminal. "But at that point you are thinking you still want to win the race, and Will was being super aggressive and trying to win the race and help his teammate." Penske praised Power for holding off Dixon for the victory. "With Will out there battling and taking some points away, he got his job done," Penske said. Power said his job in Fontana will be to help his teammate. "Going into Fontana, its all about Helio winning a championship, so whatever I can do," Power said. "If Helio needs to win the race and I need to be somewhere in between him and Dixon, then thats what were aiming for." ' ' 'tateoutlet.it/vapormax-nere-scontate-outlet.html[/url] . Vapormax Nere Saldi .Y. - The Philadelphia Eagles game at Green Bay against the Packers on Nov.MILWAUKEE -- David Holmberg pitched six effective innings, Billy Hamilton hit a two-run triple and the Cincinnati Reds beat Milwaukee 5-1 on Saturday night, snapping the Brewers three-game winning streak. Holmberg (1-1) allowed two hits in his first major league win, including Aramis Ramirezs fourth-inning homer. The left-hander has yielded one earned run in 12 2-3 innings over three September appearances. The Brewers offence is struggling as it tries to keep pace in the National League playoff race. The Brewers entered the evening 1 1/2 games behind Pittsburgh for the second wild-card spot. Cincinnati scratched out two runs in the fourth on a bases-loaded walk and sacrifice fly off Yovani Gallardo (8-10). The speedy Hamilton broke open a one-run game with his triple to the gap in right-centre in the seventh. Hamiltons first extra-base hit since Aug. 28 came against Zach Duke, part of a porous outing for a Brewers bullpen that gave up three runs and six hits combined in the seventh and eighth innings. The 23-year-old Holmberg overcame an early bout of wildness after hitting two batters in the first, when the Brewers also had their best chance at a big inning. An unusual double play with runners on first and second and nobody out helped bail out Cincinnati. Jonathan Lucroys hard-hit grounder to shortstop Zack Cozart froze Carlos Gomez leading off second.dddddddddddd Cozart threw to second for a forceout before Cincinnati tracked down Gomez in a rundown. Holmberg then got Khris Davis to fly out to right to end the inning. A frustrating night at the plate for Milwaukee included a corkscrew swing for Gomez through a Holmberg curveball for a strikeout. Gomezs helmet fell off during the swing, and the animated outfielder slammed his bat down on the helmet on the ground before walking away. TRAINERS ROOM Reds: 1B Joey Votto rejoined the team this weekend in Milwaukee in an effort to return before the end of the season. Votto, who has been on the disabled list since July 8 with a left knee injury, worked out before Saturdays game. Brewers: Davis returned to the lineup in left after missing two days with right forearm stiffness. ... Right-handed hitter Ryan Braun was moved up to the No. 2 spot in the order against the lefty Holmberg. Manager Ron Roenicke also said he liked how Braun has looked since the outfielder got a day off to rest a nagging right thumb injury. UP NEXT Reds: RHP Mike Leake (11-11) is scheduled to make his career-best 31st start on Sunday. He already has career highs of 149 strikeouts in 196 1-3 innings. Brewers: RHP Matt Garza (7-8) is 1-0 with a 0.56 ERA in two starts this season against Cincinnati. ' ' '
