Sacramento, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - DeMarcus Cousins scored nine of his season-high 39 points in overtime, and the Sacramento Kings handed the New York Knicks a seventh consecutive loss in Saturdays 135-129 victory. Cousins, who missed Fridays loss to the Suns with a stomach virus, did not look 100-percent physically but stepped up in crunch time. He went 14-of-27 from the floor and added 11 rebounds and four assists. Rudy Gay added 29 points and Darren Collison donated 27 with 10 assists for the Kings, who had dropped seven of eight coming in. We were really concentrating on how we needed to play to win this game, Kings coach Tyrone Corbin said. Carmelo Anthony paced the Knicks with 36 points, 11 rebounds and six assists, but it was not enough as New York fell to 2-14 on the road. Cole Aldrich scored a career-high 18 points before fouling out in overtime, while Tim Hardaway Jr. netted 19 for New York, which never led in regulation but scored nine of the final 11 points to force OT. Playing hard is really what I try to do, Aldrich said. If youre going to play hard, most nights are going to be better than others. The Knicks trailed by 14 early in the fourth before rattling off eight straight to pull within 99-93. Two Hardaway free throws with 4:31 to go had the Knicks within 105-102, but Collison followed with a 3-pointer and Cousins scored on three straight possessions to make it a 115-108 game with under two minutes left. Despite the odds, the Knicks rallied to play an extra five minutes. Aldrich scored five points during the aforementioned 9-2 run, including a three-point play with 38.2 seconds left that cut the deficit to 117-115. After Cousins tried finding a cutting Collison and had the ball knocked away, Hardaway went in and converted a fastbreak layup with 20.2 seconds remaining. Anthony stripped Gay going up for a baseline jumper in the closing seconds, and the former returned the favor by getting a piece of Anthonys attempt from the top of the key at the buzzer. Shane Larkins steal and layup gave New York its first and only lead, 124-122, but after trading buckets, the Kings scored 11 straight to pull away. Cousins found an open Collison with a cross-court pass for a 3-pointer, then split a pair of defenders for a thunderous dunk. Collison added a layup off a Ben McLemore steal, and Ray McCallums putback all but sealed the win. Gay and Cousins both scored 15 points in a high-scoring first quarter. The Knicks trailed by as many as 15 but pulled within six late in the half. Collison drained a long 3-pointer at the buzzer to give the Kings a 67-58 lead at the break. Both teams shot over 52 percent in the first half but slowed down to a sub-37 percent clip in the third quarter. McCallums fadeaway jumper in the closing seconds provided the hosts with an 89-80 cushion. Game Notes Knicks guard J.R. Smith (foot) sat out an eighth straight game ... Lions slotback Shawn Gore did a double take when he walked into the teams training room earlier this week. Two more key players went down in Saturdays 14-7 loss to the Calgary Stampeders a€” star running back Andrew Harris with a separated left ankle, and emerging wide receiver Bryan Burnham with a laceration to his spleen. Both are gone for the season and join quarterback Travis Lulay (right shoulder) and slotback Courtenay Taylor (foot), among many others, in a sick bay bursting at the seams.Ive never seen this. Ive never gone into the infirmary and seen so many people in there, Gore said after Wednesdays practice. When we came in for the first day of practice this week, I couldnt believe it.But new guys have to step up. Thats why youre here. Two of those players are running backs Keola Antolin and Bradley Randle, who could be pressed into action in place of Stefan Logan (leg contusion) and Tim Brown (groin) on Saturday when the Lions visit the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.The next carry for either Antolin or Randle will be their first in the CFL, although the former has been with the Lions since training camp and impressed in pre-season.Thanks for letting me know, B.C. head coach Mike Benevides deadpanned when a reporter pointed out the lack of experience in the backfield. You have to deal with it. I always look at it as an opportunity.A lot of times you think you know (what you have in a player), but you need the game time to really expose that. The versatile Antolin has been taking reps with the first team this week and could start for the Lions (7-6), who sit fourth in the West Division, a game up on Winnipeg and two back of Edmonton and Saskatchewan. Its going good. Im getting used to all the plays and stuff like that, said the 24-year-old Arizona product. Its the end of the season, people get banged up and Ive got to step up.Theres no pressure. Theyre just saying to stay calm, be yourself and go out and play football like youve been doing for so long.Antolin turned some heads in camp and Benevides is eager to see what he can do against Hamilton (5-7), which has won three straight to grab the East Division lead.Extremely explosive athlete, great jump cut, thick, physical, and any time he (played) in the pre-season, he really exploded on the field and performed at a high level, said Benevides. Hes been here all year, he knows the offence.A lot of guys have gotten opportunities (because of injuries) ... we need to caapitalize and he needs to capitalize on that.dddddddddddd Next man up. Hes the one thats got the chance and hes working hard and well see how it goes.Randle, meanwhile, was brought in just this week after spending parts of last season on the Minnesota Vikings practice roster.Im just coming up here to help out the team, whether its offence, defence or special teams, the 24-year-old out of UNLV said after his second workout with the Lions. I just want to make sure I do well and Im going hard to better the team. The veterans have been helping me out. We have five games left and I want to help them get to that Grey Cup.The Lions are a long way from that spectacle right now a€” a game that will be played at B.C. Place Stadium on Nov. 30 a€” and need to find a way to score more often with fewer weapons, especially coming off that loss in Calgary where their only points came on their first drive.I think the biggest thing is for us to play with confidence, play with speed, said Benevides, whose team topped Hamilton 36-29 at home in Week 7. No difference than how we started last week, but lets stay consistent. Lord willing we wont get any injuries during the game.We did well against this football team the last time we played them. Weve just got to find a level of consistency a€” make the catch thats required, make the block thats required, make the good decision and at the end of it we should be fine. The Lions might have to also find other ways of getting on the scoreboard against the Tiger-Cats, and that suits linebacker Solomon Elimimian and his No. 1 defence just fine.My mindset on defence is its always going to be on our shoulders and we have to always make plays, said Elimimian, who leads the CFL with 108 tackles. Thats our mindset regardless of what the offence does our doesnt do, and that doesnt really change.Obviously its a tough position because we have a lot of key injuries in key spots but thats what a teams about a€” everybody putting something in collectively and getting something out.Injuries have been a consistent storyline for the Lions going all the way back to training camp, but neither Benevides or his players are using that chatter as a crutch with the regular season winding down. Its been a challenge, said the head coach. Ive never seen anything like it, but its one of those things where its never an excuse, and it cant be. If anything, it gives the young men and opportunity and theyve got to perform. ' ' 'mphatically off the glass. Jennings missed from the perimeter, then stole the ball near midcourt and went in for a three-point play to make it 84-62. "I told the guys today, just when we were in the locker room, Im so proud of them," Loyer said. "I only thought there was about a three-minute period where they showed more energy, more determination than us. You show determination, hustle for 45 of the 48 minutes, youre going to be pretty successful most nights." San Antonio is in the midst of a nine-game road swing. Belinelli was back after dealing with back spasms, but the Spurs were without Manu Ginobili (left hamstring) and Kawhi Leonard (right hand). The Pistons went on a 15-4 run in the second quarter, capped by a 3-pointer by Jennings that put them ahead 57-45. "They played hard," San Antonios Danny Green said. "They wanted to play with some passion and they got loose balls." NOTES: The Pistons have won five straight at home after starting 7-15 at The Palace. ... After Cheeks firing, Popovich was asked about the key to his longevity with the Spurs. "I have information on everybody," he joked. "And Ive threatened everybody Ill let it out unless they keep me as long as I want to stay." ... Ginobili has joined the Spurs on this road trip, but hes not expected to play until after the All-Star break. ' ' '
