The Vancouver Canucks (1-0) host the Edmonton Oilers (0-1) in their home opener at Rogers Arena tonight. The Canucks will likely go with the same line-up they used in Wednesdays 4-2 season-opening victory in Calgary. Chris Tanev took the morning skate and was paired with usual partner Alex Edler. Tanev called himself a game-time decision which seems to be this years catch-phrase for any Canuck dealing with a minor injury. Ryan Miller, who sports a lifetime 7-0 record against Edmonton, will get the start in goal tonight. He made 23 saves in his Canucks debut. Last season, the Canucks went 3-2 against the Oilers winning two of the three games played here in Vancouver. The Canucks also faced the Oilers in last seasons home opener defeating them 6-2. Now-departed Jason Garrison led all Canucks with 1+4=5 in the season series while Zack Kassian led the team with three goals. David Perron led Edmonton with three goals against the Canucks last season while Taylor Hall topped the team in scoring with 0+5=5. After tonight, the Canucks have five full days off from game action and dont play again until they face the Oilers in Edmonton next Friday night. Before then, the Oilers have games in Los Angeles and Arizona on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Oilers are here after falling 5-2 to Calgary in their home opener on Thursday. Edmonton held a 40-26 edge in shots on goal and recorded double-digits in shots in all three periods. Teddy Purcell and Taylor Hall had the Oiler goals. Ben Scrivens made 21 saves in the loss. Leon Draisaitl, the 3rd overall pick in Junes draft, made his NHL debut on Thursday and played 14:47. Edmonton will go with the same 18 skaters they used on Thursday, but will give Viktor Fasth the start in goal.
