CALGARY, Alta. - Hockey Canada announced the 22 players named to Canadas National Womens Development Team, which will compete in a three-game series against the United States Womens Under-22 National Team from Aug. 21-24 at WinSports Markin MacPhail Centre at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary. The 13 forwards, seven defencemen and two goaltenders were chosen following Canadas National Womens Development Team selection camp, held Aug. 7-17. Players were divided into two teams, Blue and Yellow, and competed in three intrasquad games during selection camp. Canadas National Womens Development Team features three players who won a gold medal with Canadas National Womens Under-22/Development Team at the 2013 Meco Cup, two players who won a gold medal with Canadas National Womens Under-18 Team at the 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Womens World Championship and eight players who won a gold medal with Canadas National Womens Under-18 Team at the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Womens World Championship. Canadas National Womens Development Team was selected by Melody Davidson, general manager of national womens team programs, and Hockey Canadas team of scouts, along with Canadas National Womens Development Team head coach Dwayne Gylywoychuk, and assistant coaches Amanda Benoit-Wark and Cara Morey. "The 41 players who attended selection camp in Calgary left it all on the ice, and as a coaching staff we could not have asked for more," Gylywoychuk said. "It made for some tough decisions, but we are thrilled to work with these 22 players over the next week, and as a team we look forward to representing the country against the U.S." The puck drops on the three-game series against the United States on Aug. 21, with other games scheduled for Aug. 22 and Aug. 24. Following the series, Hockey Canada scouts, along with the teams coaching staff, will continue to evaluate players with their club teams during the 2014-15 season, in preparation for selecting the Canadian team that will compete at an international tournament next January in Germany. The 34-year old was magnificent in 2013, throwing for just under 2,900 yards despite missing eight games, tossing an impressive 21 touchdowns against just two interceptions, completing 66 per cent of his passes in the process. The Colorado Mammoth head coach Bob Hamley and assistants Ed Comeau and Sean Ferris were relieved of their coaching duties on Tuesday. "I have tremendous respect and admiration for Bob, Ed and Sean, and cant say enough about what tremendous men they are," said Mammoth president & general manager Steve Govett. "Unforttunately, our team has not met the organizations expectations.dddddddddddd Change was necessary." Hamley was in his fifth season as head coach, while Comeau and Ferris were in their fourth. No replacements have been named at this time. An announcement regarding the coaching staff will be made in the near future. ' ' ' the green. Spieth doesnt carry a 3-iron. "I went to a hybrid," he said. "And I just kind of hit a little stinger cut about 20 feet away. And then it was normally a straight putt and Michael (Greller) and I, my caddie, are looking at each other saying, Well, weve got to play this about a foot out to the right with the wind. And so I hit it a foot out. With about 3 feet to go, the wind just blew it right, just broke perfectly right into the hole." Walkers best holes were his pars, particularly the par-5 14th. His 8-iron came back down into a bunker, leaving him such an awkward lie that he had to plant his feet outside the sand. With a shallow swing, he did well to blast out 12 feet away, and he made the par putt. "That was pretty big to keep it feeling like things were still in my favour," Walker said. He made two long birdie putts, and then hit a drive of nearly 390 yards on the seventh hole -- with the aid of a cart path. It left him only an 8-iron to the green, and he had an easy up-and-down for his final birdie. Hunter Mahan had a 68 at Spyglass Hill, with half of his six birdies on the par 5s. He was at 8-under 136. "Coming up these last few holes are tough," Mahan said. "Theyre uphill, they got the wind, its getting cold, raining. You just dont want to throw away shots. Because this can be a long week, and it could be mentally more grinding than anything." Phil Mickelson had a 73 at Pebble Beach and was five shots behind, even though he has taken 62 putts over two rounds. "Tee to green, Im playing very well, but I havent putted this poorly in a year," he said. "For the way Im hitting it, its a little disappointing because I should have a really good opportunity. And Ill have to turn it around. Its not too late, but Ive got to get it turned around here." ' ' 'the mutual agreement to go in different directions," said Browns general manager Ray Farmer, who was promoted into that role last month and had to make a tough decision on Jackson. "DQwell is the epitome of class, leadership and professionalism. Every day of his NFL career, DQwell has been a solid representative of the Browns and the city of Cleveland, both between the lines on Sundays and off the field in our area community. "We wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavours." Jackson overcame two serious chest injuries earlier in his career. He missed most of two seasons, but recovered and was a mainstay on Clevelands defence despite playing under four head coaches and four defensiive co-ordinators.dddddddddddd He signed a five-year, $42.5 million contract extension last year through 2016. The deal, which included $19 million in guarantees and bonuses, would have paid Jackson $3.93 million this season. He was set to make $7.73 million and $7 million the next two seasons. However, the Browns looked at his age and increasing salary, and although theyve got room under the salary cap, decided to make the change. The team wants to get younger, stronger and faster in its linebacking corps and Jackson no longer fit into their plans. Near the end of last season, Jackson said he would be "shocked" if he didnt come back. But now that the day has arrived, he can get a fresh start elsewhere. He thanked the Browns and their fans in a statement. "To the people of Cleveland and Browns fans everywhere: Eight years ago I began a journey that blessed me with the opportunity to be a part of a wonderful organization and community," Jackson said. "I want to take this time to thank each and every one of you for opening your arms and hearts to my family and me, and for making Cleveland an easy place to love and call home. Its been an honour playing in front of you. I also would like to thank the Browns players, coaches and staff for their tireless work and commitment. "From the bottom of my heart, I thank you all and will always carry you with me. For opening your arms and hearts to my family and me, and for making Cleveland an easy place to love and call home. Its been an honour playing in front of you." ' ' 'ard. ' ' '
