MINNEAPOLIS -- Chicago manager Robin Ventura is no longer surprised when Jose Abreu hits a long home run or does something else spectacular. Abreu hit his major league-leading 30th homer and drove in three runs, leading the White Sox past the Minnesota Twins 9-5 on Friday night. "I think were past the point of unexpected with him," Ventura said. "You just expect him to be in the middle of things when its happening." Abreu had two hits and scored twice. The Cuban rookie has 77 RBIs -- Detroits Miguel Cabrera began the day leading the majors with 80. Fellow slugger and teammate Adam Dunn is even more impressed with Abreu than his manager. "Baseballs been around a long time and theres been a lot of rookies come up but for him to do what hes done, I dont think anybody expected that," Dunn said. "Am I surprised by it? Not really." The White Sox said in research by the Elias Sports Bureau that Abreus 89 games are the third fastest in major league history to reach 30 home runs. He also joined Jose Canseco and Tony Oliva as the only Cuban-born rookies to hit 30 homers. Alexei Ramirez and Tyler Flowers also homered for the White Sox. Dayan Viciedo tied a career high with four of Chicagos 17 hits. John Danks (9-6), the subject of recent trade rumours, gave up four runs over seven innings. Oswaldo Arcia and Josh Willingham homered for Minnesota, which has lost 10 of its last 13 home games. Abreu drove a hanging curveball from Kevin Correia (5-13) into the bullpen in left-centre field to give Chicago a 3-0 lead in the first inning. "The ball was flying everywhere. Bloops, blasts, the whole package," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. The White Sox have won six of their last nine. Danks set down 12 batters in a row before Chris Colabello lined two-run single in the sixth. Heading into the start, Danks was 0-6 with a 6.18 ERA in his last eight games against Minnesota. An early three-run blast from Abreu sure helps in forgetting about some of those trade rumours. "I dont get caught up in any of that, I really dont," Danks said. "Ive heard some things about the rumours and stuff out there. I have no control over that. Im going to be in Chicago hopefully my whole career, but if something happens well cross that bridge when we get there." After Kurt Suzuki had a sacrifice fly in the Twins second, Ramirez opened the third with a home run off the facing of the upper deck in left. Flowers sent a drive off the upper deck to start the seventh, one of his three hits. Correia, also mentioned in trade speculation, lasted just four innings for the second consecutive start. Watching those balls fly over the fence and the bloopers find open space wasnt any fun for him. "Thats two bad starts in a row. I need to get on another good run here," Correia said. The oft-injured 2009 U.S. Open champion del Potro had been sidelined for 11 months with a wrist injury. It was a great moment for me, del Potro said. I think I played well in my first match after 10 months. I served well. My forehand is still working out. So thats a good signal for the future. I need to work very hard to my backhands and my movements, but I think now is time to think about my comeback and enjoy this moment a lot. Ive been at home for a long time; [its been] really sad. To be honest, I didnt expect this moment to be early in the season. Im so happy, so glad. I would like to share with a lot of people who were behind me last year, but all of them are in Argentina. So I will meet them once again very soon.dddddddddddd The tall slugger, unseeded this week, beat Aussie and 2013 Sydney titlist Bernard Tomic in last years final here. ' ' ' league.Initially a backup after being drafted in the sixth round, he took over from injured quarterback Drew Bledsoe — and the rest is history.Tom Bradys done a lot of great things over the last 15 years, Patriots tight end Tim Wright said.Who would argue? After the usual Media Day fare concerning his favourite music (Jay-Z got a shout-out) and his hair (but no marriage proposals, as happened in the past), Brady got around to taking questions Tuesday about his place in the game.ddddddddddddHe knows full well that Super Bowl success is a major part of how quarterbacks careers are defined. And Brady said he recalls the feeling of hoisting the Lombardi Trophy three times in a four-year span a decade ago. Those things happened so fast back then. I didnt even understand what was happening, Brady said. Its not like I didnt appreciate those experiences. I certainly did. But ... weve had two tough ones.Wilson, 26, has yet to play an NFL season that didnt include at least one playoff victory for his team.He goes about things a different way than Brady on the field, far more skilled as a ball carrier and on-the-move improviser. Wilson can sling the football, too, though, and put it right where he wants it, as evidenced by his 35-yard touchdown throw in overtime to win the NFC championship game against the Green Bay Packers. Before a late comeback, Seattle trailed by 16 points. Wilson had a passer rating of zero at halftime and he finished the game with four interceptions. But that did not concern him Tuesday. The only thing that did was the final score.I want to be considered a winner, said Wilson, sporting a thick beard. Thats ultimately the goal in terms of playing quarterback: Win, win, win.Asked which quarterbacks were his favourites while growing up, Wilson mentioned Brady and Peyton Manning, calling them two guys that Ive looked up to since I was a little kid.In last years Super Bowl, Seattle overwhelmed Mannings Denver Broncos 43-8, part of Wilsons 10-0 record in games against quarterbacks who have won a title. That could become 11-0 on Sunday. To get back to the Super Bowl is a huge thing, Wilson said. Its a one-of-a-kind thing. Not for this games two QBs.___Follow Howard Fendrich on Twitter at http://twitter.com/HowardFendrich___Online:AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and AP NFL Twitter feed: http://twitter.com/AP_NFL ' ' '
