As the theatre and drama of the NBA Free Agency Season unfolds with LeBron James Decision 2.0, TSN Radio 1050s hosts of #1On1 with Will & Duane, Will Strickland and Duane Watson incorporate the help of long-suffering Cleveland sports fan and a host of TSN 1050s Game Night and Game Day, Andy McNamara to sort out where the dominoes fall for the rest of the NBA and its prime free agents. What does LeBron Jamess return to Cleveland mean to that city and the league? Strickland: It would seem that Ohios Prodigal Son returning to the place where his professional success began would be a significant part of his career narrative. The legend grows even more so if James is able to unite and sow the seeds of ultimate glory in the game with his new teammates to lead them to a title. LeBron exhibited how he could lord his power over the NBA with this decision and create semi-seismic ripples in leagues landscape. But the deeper, more meaningful aspect of this all is LeBron Raymone James had to leave, grow, learn to understand what may be his greater purpose in life. In his own words: "My relationship with Northeast Ohio is bigger than basketball. I didnt realize that four years ago. I do now." McNamara: For the City of Cleveland LeBrons return means everything. The city nearly shut down on Friday to celebrate. Billboards were raised and t-shirts were released. It means a return to legitimacy, not just in the NBA, but in the North American sports scene. When LeBron left bars, restaurants and tourism suffered. LeBrons letter provides commitment and hope to a struggling region and erases the pain of the last four years. For the NBA LeBrons return provides a phenomenal feel good story and gives hope to an underdog franchise. Its great for the league and freshens up a stale Eastern Conference scene. Watson: It allows James to make a return home, make peace with the City of Cleveland and makes them viable contenders in the Eastern Conference. Its a storybook ending, really, and a chance for James to cement his legacy if he brings a championship to Cleveland. Oh, and more jersey sales for the league as its rumoured he will change his number to 32. In LeBrons open letter to the NBA in Sports Illustrated, he mentions several of his Cleveland teammates, but not Andrew Wiggins. Cause for alarm? Strickland: No. Alarm for whom? Canadian hoops fans who would like to see the four Canucks on that team, especially Wiggins, be integral parts of aiding the Cavaliers in their NBA title quest. Understandable. But, this is a business. And this is a business that requires deft asset management skills, those often lacking in the front office decision making in Cleveland. So, do the Cavs move Andrew Wiggins, an unproven commodity on the finest of hardwood courts in The Association as yet, but with an absolutely meteoric upside for a highly coveted three-time All-Star, 3-point shooting, voracious rebounding Olympic Gold Medalist entering his prime who accelerates your teams championship aspirations? McNamara: I dont believe the exclusions of those names was a secret message or hint of things to come. It was definitely interesting that the #1 overall draft pick was left out though. Maybe LeBron doesnt know Wiggins and mentioned people with whom he was more familiar. Watson: No. Despite his talent, Wiggins is a rookie and still has to prove his worth in the NBA. The balance of power shifted in the Eastern Conference. Who prevails ad why? Strickland: While Cleveland automatically becomes a prohibitive favourite with That Guy on their roster, consider Washingtons impressive showing in the playoffs as well as retaining centre Marcin Gortat in free agency, note that Miamis not completely dead and the Toronto Raptors wont creep up on anyone next season. However, after "meditating it", the Chicago Bulls hold the most intrigue. Pau Gasol may still be the most all-around skilled big on the planet, even at 34. Teamed with 2014 Defensive Player of the Year Joakim Noah, they could be the best passing bigs in the league. Rookie Doug McDermott, the solid Jimmy Butler & the emerging Taj Gibson all help Coach Tom Thibodeaus plans of Eastern Conference supremacy. A healthy Derrick Rose makes this close to a forgone conclusion. McNamara: As it stands now the East is completely wide open, which makes for real interesting storylines that dont involve who will lose to Miami in the Eastern Conference. As it stands now, the major players have to include Cleveland (obviously), Indiana and Chicago. Free agency moves and trades can alter this of course. Right now I give the nod to the Cavaliers as favorites, but that takes into account a lot of assumptions that include whether Wiggins stays, if Wiggins can step in and contribute day one, how Bennett bounces back, and what trades or signings still take place. Watson: I dont necessarily know if it has shifted, I think it is just far more open and even overall. Every year the Heat were the dominant force to beat and now there isnt an overwhelming favourite. Teams have improved, (Bulls, Cavaliers), while others have are looking to take the next step after last years success (Raptors, Wizards), if some teams can figure it out, they can be dangerous (Pistons, Heat) and some have regressed (Heat, Pacers). The landscape has balanced out and its not as easy to call, with some free agents still unsigned, and moves to be made, its too early to call. Which player won the most this free agency period? Strickland: With spirited nods to the Madison Square Gardener, Carmelo Anthony (five years/$130M), Chris Bosh (five years/ $118M), Gordon Hayward (four years/$63M) and Chandler Parsons (three years/$46M), who all cashed out in dramatic fashion, LeBron James reigns here. The King didnt max out as he could have at two years/$42.1M. But the social/community currency, along with his personal peace of mind, may have the longest lasting impact and value. McNamara: No doubt LeBron. He looks like a superhero returning home and is savior to a city and region. Plus he goes to a team with assets to trade for a proven vet or just grow a stable of young studs. Watson: Chandler Parsons was a second round pick that earned $926,500 this past season with the Houston Rockets. Now the Dallas Mavericks are paying him $12 million a season on a three-year near max contract, talk about a pay day! Hes the Mavs highest player, but hes not the key to taking the Mavericks to the next level. Mark Cuban overpaid to stick it to his cross-state rival. Parsons is good, but not near-max money good. Youre the real MVP Chandler Parsons. Which player lost the most this free agency period? Strickland: Luol Deng, hands down. After dismissing several deals at $10M per year, which he felt were too low considering his stature and value, the oft-injured 29-year-old former All-Star signed a two year/$20M deal to "replace" LeBron James in Miami. More potentially lucrative offers existed with the Rockets, Mavericks, Hawks and Wizards. Negotiation is an art. Deng and his agents seem to be finger painting. And, as hard as it is to call $10 million per year "finger painting", tough to find kinder words for how this all shook out for Deng. McNamara: Chris Bosh. Why, Oh Why would he go back to Miami? There is no possible way he will be seen as anything other than a complete failure if he doesnt lead the Heat back to the Finals. Bosh going to Houston made much more sense since he would get a fresh start and different expectations on him. The only positive for CB about returning to South Beach is the extra year he gets on his contract. Watson: Chris Bosh signed a max contract with the wrong team, electing to sign a five-year $118 million to return to the Miami Heat (sans LeBron James). The Houston Rockets offered the power forward a four-year deal for $88 million to play alongside Dwight Howard and James Harden and stretch the floor and play defence in his home state, but he passed. Now he will have to work twice as hard, with Dwyane Wade on part-time duty and carry the Heat, as James made it easier for everyone on the team. He will effectively have to earn that salary, and bring his level of play back to what he did in Toronto. Its put us in a good position to take a tough loss like we did tonight and keep moving. Well be all right. . It was fun while it lasted. The Warriors still have the NBAs best record at 21-3. They just lost for the first time since Nov. 11 against the Spurs, also the last team to beat Memphis. This was the first time in NBA history in which both teams had 19 or more wins in the first 24 games — the Grizzlies improved to 20-4.Kerr noted the streak hadnt gotten close to the 27 straight the Miami Heat won between February and March 2013, let alone threatening the Lakers 33-game streak back in 1971-72. All Golden States streak meant was an increase of a couple extra reporters following the team.I havent thought about the streak really at all other than just enjoying the winning part, Kerr said. The biggest thing now we need is a couple days of practice. We havent had a real day of practice in a long time. We wont have one (Wednesday), but well have a couple this weekend, which will be good for us. We just have to bounce back.Kerr remains tied with Mike Dunleavy for the record with 16 straight wins by a rookie head coach, matching what Dunleavy did in 1991 with the Clippers. Golden State still has the NBAs best record at 21-3.We won 16 games in a row, and thats hard to come by, Warriors forward Draymond Green said. It doesnt happen every day. It was a great streak. Streaks aare made to be broken.dddddddddddd We cant expect to win 60 games in a row.The Warriors played without centre Andrew Bogut for a fourth straight game, and he will be re-evaluated Wednesday after the team said before tipoff that Bogut now has chondromalacia and bone edema in his knee instead of simply tendinitis. They also were without David Lee, whos dealing with a hamstring problem.Golden State found a way to counter Memphis inside strength by matching the Grizzlies point for point in the paint, and the Warriors even outrebounded Memphis (49-48).But Marc Gasol scored 24 and Zach Randolph added 17 as they combined for the same amount of points as Klay Thompson, who had 22, and Curry who had 19. Curry struggled, hitting 9 of 25 from the floor, including 1 of 10 from 3-point range.Vince Carter and Beno Udrih led Memphis bench in taking control of the game scoring the first 20 points of the second quarter, turning Golden States 30-24 lead at the end of the first into a 44-30 deficit even as the Warriors had starters Thompson and Harrison Barnes on the floor. Carter hit three straight 3s and tied his season high of 11 during the quarter and finished with 16 points. They deserve all the credit for what they did, Gasol said of the Grizzlies reserves. They came in, I thought defensively they did an amazing job.The Warriors trailed by 14 and got within two twice in the fourth quarter, the last at 90-88 on an alley-oop dunk for Shaun Livingston with 5:09 to go. Memphis responded with a 7-0 run capped by two foul shots for Courtney Lee after Kerr and Warriors guard Andre Iguodala each picked up a technical foul.Curry missed back-to-back 3-pointers in the final 10 seconds, and he wasnt happy at throwing away a pass late with the Warriors missing a couple key shots. We got decent shots, we just had to put together a perfect end of the game to come back from the deficit, Curry said. ' ' 'r trailed, beating Northwestern 76-50 on Saturday. Gabriel Olaseni had 14 points and 10 rebounds and Mike Gesell added 11 points for the Hawkeyes (16-4, 5-2 Big Ten), who avoided losing consecutive games for the first time this season after falling 75-67 at No. 21 Michigan on Wednesday. They shot 51.9 per cent from the field (28 of 54) and won their fourth in five games. Iowa, which outrebounded Northwestern 44-20, had nine players score. Marble, Iowas leading scorer, didnt make his first field goal until 3:08 into the second half. That was part of a 7-0 run that gave the Hawkeyes a 41-30 lead, their first double-digit advantage. Northwestern never got closer than seven points during a second half Iowa dominated 46-26. Drew Crawford had 20 points for Northwestern (10-11, 3-5), which had won three of four. Saturday was a rematch of the teams Jan. 9 game in Iowa City which the Hawkeyes won 93-67 after shooting 64.3 per cent during the second half. Iowa coach Fran McCaffery was suspended for that game after getting ejected during the Hawkeyes previous game at Wisconsin. On Saturday, McCaffery was coaching and along with Northwesterns Chris Collins wore sneakers as part of the annual Coaches vs.dddddddddddd Cancer weekend. That first game was a turning point for Northwestern. Including the teams first matchup, the Wildcats started conference play 0-3 and were allowing an average of 81 points per game. In the next four games -- a stretch that included a win over then-No. 23 Illinois, a victory at Indiana and a double-overtime win over Purdue -- the Wildcats only gave up 51 points per game. Northwestern got Dave Sobolewski back after he missed four games (concussion), and had Crawford break the school record by playing in his 131st game and starting his 130th. He topped the marks set by John Shurna and Michael Thompson, respectively. The Wildcats shot 36.4 per cent from the field (20 of 55). Unlike the first meeting, when the Hawkeyes led 41-26 at halftime, Iowa struggled to separate from Northwestern during the first half despite making 50 per cent of its shots compared to the Wildcats 31. Iowa was in front 30-24 at halftime but at one point went more than 6 minutes between baskets. ' ' 'me if Im not playing all out, all the time, Gordon said. Its just what I do. I really like that aspect. Tobias Harris scored 17 points with 16 rebounds for Orlando, winners in two straight after opening the season with four losses. Kevin Martin scored 21 points for Minnesota, which lost point guard Ricky Rubio to a sprained ankle in the second quarter. Corey Brewer and Nikola Pekovic added 16 apiece. It was real tough for us, but we still had a chance to win, Pekovic said, referring to the Rubio injury. In the future, we have to do something more about that. Mo Williams made two free throws with 2:02 left in the fourth to break a tie and put the Wolves in front. Both teams came up empty until the Orlandos final possession, when the Magic tied the game to force overtime. Out of a timeout with under 30 seconds remaining, the Magic triple-teamed Martin near midcourt. Maurice Harkless poked the ball free and Paytton came up with a steal.dddddddddddd Payton led a 3-on-1 fastbreak the other way, but his bounce pass to Devyn Marble was too low and Williams had time to recover and swat the layup attempt out of bounds. Nikola Vucevic drew a foul when play resumed and made both free throws with 11.9 seconds left. Minnesota took the clock all the way down, with Martins runner rimming out as time expired. On Minnesotas first possession of overtime, Gordons stellar defense on Thaddeus Young allowed Vucevic to come up with a steal. Vucevic then rewarded Gordon, who threw down a two-handed jam plus a foul. Orlando led the rest of the way. Paytons bank shot at 2:17 made it a four-point game and Gordons corner 3 out of a timeout sealed the outcome. Both players got a standing ovation from the home crowd as they checked out of the game late. There were 17 ties and 17 lead changes in a back-and-forth affair. Midway through the second quarter, the Wolves led by eight, but Orlando kept it close and trailed by just five, 52-47, at halftime. Neither team led by more than three in the third quarter. Game Notes Orlando has won seven straight games at home against Minnesota. The Wolves last won in Orlando in 2008 ... The Magic won the rebounding margin, 52-38 ... Magic power forward Kyle OQuinn missed his fifth straight game with a sprained ankle ... Vucevic finished with 14 points and nine rebounds before fouling out. ' ' 'roll is at $189.2 million -- above the $189 million tax threshold for the upcoming season. However, Alex Rodriguezs $27.5 million luxury-tax salary would disappear if his 211-game suspension is upheld by an arbitrator. The 37-year-old Thornton replaces Boone Logan, who left for a $16.5 million, three-year contract with Colorado. A 10-year big league veteraan, Thornton was 0-4 with a 3.dddddddddddd74 ERA in 60 relief appearances last season for the Chicago White Sox and Boston, which acquired him in July for minor league outfielder Brandon Jacobs. Wells, who was designated for assignment, was acquired last March from the Los Angeles Angels and hit .233 with 11 homers and 50 RBIs in 424 at-bats. The 35-year-old, a three-time All-Star, became superfluous when the Yankees signed Jacoby Ellsbury and Carlos Beltran to join an outfield that already included Brett Gardner, Ichiro Suzuki and Alfonso Soriano. New York is responsible for just $2.4 million of Wells $21 million salary in the final season of his $126 million, seven-year contract, with the Angels paying the Yankees $18.6 million as part of the trade last March. A team that signs Wells would be responsible for just $500,000, the major league minimum. ' ' 'air-vapormax-plus-canada/womens.html]Vapormax Plus Womens Sale[/url] . Sullivan, who recently completed his fourth campaign with the club, was named as the BBL Trophy final MVP last season, as well as being in the running for BBL MVP.The 36-year-old averaged 14.8 points, over seven rebounds and almost four assists per game as the Riders topped the BBL Championship table before losing to Sheffield Sharks in the play-off final. I thought he was as good as any player in the league on both ends of the floor last season, said Leicester head coach Rob Paternostro.I think his versatility and ability to impact the game in so many ways is unique and its what separates him from a lot of players. He is able to lead the game and find the best way to impact it on a nightly basis. Sullivan played a key role for the Riders last season His ability gives a coach great luxury - no matter what line-up he has around him.ddddddddddddWe know that Drew is as competitive as anyone and has a passion for winning. He is someone that is excited about the future of the club moving forward - both on and off the court.Drew is a player that I have great familiarity with after working with him for four seasons and you are always happy when you look out on to the floor and the No 8 is wearing your colours.Sullivan is the second Riders player to re-sign on a multi-year deal for the upcoming season, following on from the announcement that Tyler Bernardini would be continuing with the club next season.
